STORM GREY. British & Bamboo Blended Fibre Tops/Braid 100g
Sold by the 100g and prepared in braids to keep the fibres tidy. (If you’ve never used a braid before, you simply pull one end and it unravels and turns back into tops ready for spinning!)
Blended Fibre: Looking for something a little funky, or looking to combine the best qualities of several different types of fibre? You're in the right place! When we say 'Blends' we mean that colours or fibre types have been carded (or blended or mixed) together to create stunning combinations. Some of the blending we do by hand (like rolags and batts), others (like tops) are done at a UK mill.
33.3% Shetland 33.3% BFL 33.3% Bamboo
About this colour way: There are a lot of beautiful natural greys out there, but sometimes you just need a certain shade. This is the best of both natural occurring greys and dyed greys, plus some gorgeous charcoal bamboo fibre. There’s also a pop of white and a pop of black to keep things interesting. Blended to make a smooth colour, you can still see pops of the individual shades which helps create a more dynamic fibre than a flat dyed grey. Excellent if you’re looking for a semi-solid. This colour reminds me of those grey stormy english skies. These blends look like one colour from a distance, but when you get up close, you start to notice all the variations. Totally magical.
Spinning tip: Shetland is a classic British fibre from up north. BFL is the softest of all British breeds. Bamboo is super strong and super silky, not to mention eco-friendly. We avoid using Superwash because of the harmful process to the environment. Suitable for felting too, just remember that Bamboo takes needle felting much better than wet felting.
